Your first project
Open Aether
Install the build for your operating system. The packaged workspace does not require a source checkout or Node.js to launch. Your project and tools may have their own dependencies.
Choose your connection
Open Settings → Models. Select a local endpoint or provider preset, configure the URL or key, test the connection and save. For Codex or Claude Code, use the Agent runtimes section and check sign-in.
Open a folder and start small
Open your project folder and ask Aether to explain the structure or plan a change. General chat also works without a project. Review the selected context and approvals before granting access.
Check the result
Review file changes, run the relevant project checks and use the browser preview where useful. AI output needs verification before deployment or publication.
Models and agent runtimes
Local endpoint
Run an OpenAI-compatible model server such as Ollama, llama.cpp, vLLM, SGLang or Unsloth. Configure its base URL in Aether and choose a model from that server. Model quality, speed and memory needs depend on your model and hardware.
Provider API
Choose a provider preset and supply your API key. Requests, usage limits and charges belong to the provider account. Aether does not bundle provider credits.
Codex and Claude Code
Choose an agent runtime, check sign-in, and load available models. Codex requires a separately installed official runtime; Claude Code uses the included runtime. Your provider account controls eligibility and usage limits.
Choose your layout
Studio brings working surfaces together in tabs and split panes. Focused is suited to conversation-led work. Classic keeps a familiar code-and-files layout. The same underlying conversations and workspace resources support these views.
Permissions and safe work
Read each approval and grant only the access needed for the task. File edits, commands, browser actions and integrations can change real systems. Keep backups, review diffs and avoid exposing credentials in prompts or project context.
Stop ends the active run, but it cannot undo a completed command or an action already accepted by an external service.
Customize your workflow
Use Customize to manage installed packages, skills, connected tools and Mods. Use project and global rules to provide consistent instructions. Review executable hooks, MCP servers and plugin access before enabling them; a credential is separate from approval to run a tool.
Your profile
Settings → Profile lets you set a local display name and optionally connect Google for your name, verified email and avatar. Google connection is separate from model-provider sign-in. You can disconnect it locally; revoke Google consent separately through your Google account.
